Blauflesch Building Paper Model In N Scale - by Ausschneide Bogen

This paper model of the Blauflesch building is based on a real building located in the German city of Ulm, Germany.

Perfect for Dioramas, RPGs and Wargames, the Blauflesch building is offered by the Ausschneide Bogen website and is in N scale (1/160 scale).

The Blauflesch building was built by the “Construction and Savings Association of Civil Servants and Transport Workers of the State of Württemberg”.

After just ten months of construction, 72 apartments, an inn, a general store, and a butcher's shop were completed in December 1902.

Each apartment was between 15 and 25 square meters and had a kitchen, bathroom and three bedrooms. The residential units were modern and generously equipped for the time.

The building, like much of the city of Ulm, was seriously damaged during the Second World War by an air raid on December 17, 1944, no longer had a roof and was rebuilt in a somewhat simpler form after the end of the Second World War.

The Blauflesch building of the Ulm heimstätte shown on the model in its state after construction in 1903 was created from two black and white photos from the time and the floor plan of the ground-floor building.

The color scheme was created intuitively compared to other buildings from the same era. The rear part of the building was intuitively created based on the current building.

The Blauflesch restaurant has been the regular meeting place for Ulm's paper model makers for years and we hope it will continue to be so after the new contract.

Attached to the model sheet is a small model of the Wiblinger Motorwagen from 1911, a predecessor of today's regular buses (Setra) from the Kässbohrer company from Ulm.

My thanks to my friend Jo Kizinger from the USA for this beautiful find.

Schönberg Observation Tower Paper Model - by Ausschneide Bogen

This paper model of the Schönberg Observation Tower is offered by the German website Ausschneide Bogen.

The model can be downloaded in two different scales: 1/87 (H0 scale), which occupies six printed sheets, and 1/160 (N scale), two sheets, with internal cardboard reinforcement being recommended for the 1/87 scale model.

Around 1894, while hiking on the Schönberg plateau, hiking friends Louis Laiblin, Eugen Nägele and Joseph Krauß came up with the idea of building an observation tower there.

The paper manufacturer Laiblin made the construction possible with a generous donation and so the "Pfullinger Unterhose" was built between 1905 and 1906 according to plans by the architect Professor Theodor Fischer for 17,000 marks (equivalent to around 200,000 euros today) as first observation tower to be built in reinforced concrete in Germany.

In 1926, the wooden shingles were replaced by a copper roof. In the spring of 1945, the French army damaged the roof of the upper tower with an air raid. Repairs took place in 1949 and renovation work took place in 1965 and 1982.

The approximately 28 meter high tower can be reached via 108 steps and is constantly open. My thanks to my friend Jo Kizinger, from the USA, for this nice find.

Majgu Island Lighthouse Paper Model In 1/160 Scale - by Gunnar Sillén

Created by Swedish designer and modeler Gunnar Sillén, from the website Bildrum, this is the Majgu Island Lighthouse papercraft. The entire model occupies just one printed sheet and is in 1/160 scale (N scale).

Regarding this lighthouse, Mr. Sillén said: - "In letters and in public contexts, the name of the island is written as Magö. But on Gotland they say and write Majgu.

Since time immemorial, the island has been an important point of guidance for sailors heading to the sheltered port of Slite or other Gotland limestone loading ports such as Hide and St Olofsholm.

The island probably has had some type of lighthouse since ancient times to facilitate navigation. At the beginning of the 19th century the lighthouse was built of wood and had a barrel as a top sign on the bow and perhaps it is not so strange that they placed a barrel as the most important export from the ports of Majgu since the 17th century was quicklime delivered in wooden barrels.

In Gustaf af Klint's 1839 description for the "Atlas Sveriges Sjö" there is text about the lighthouse that describes it thus: "a tower whose buttresses in the upper two-thirds are covered with boards a few meters below the barrel which stands on top.

In 1851, the wooden lighthouse was replaced with a stepped white brick and stone structure. But still with a barrel as the top sign. And next to the lighthouse, a similar white ladder guardhouse was built for the lighthouse keepers.

The lighthouse increasingly fell into disuse during the latter part of the 20th century, as radio and radar provided new conditions for safe piloting and navigation. In the 1980s, the lighthouse was completely destroyed.

When you visit the website to download the model, take a look at the photos. One of them shows the state of ruins the lighthouse was in at that time.

In 1990 it was rebuilt by the association of Othem Boge's home village. The Slite maritime museum is responsible for the maintenance of the lighthouse, which also uses the lighthouse with the associated cockpit as a record The Majgu Island Lighthouse is used in the logo of the Slite Shipping Museum, a maritime museum in Slite on the east coast of the island Gotland in Sweden, a voluntary project maintained by some enthusiasts since 1998. "

In Gunnar Sillén's own words, the aim of this museum is "to collect and display objects and memories that can give some understanding about all the work that had to be done by men, women and ships to keep life going for everyone else".

In the world of miniature model making, 1/160 scale or N scale is one of the most popular scales in the model railroad hobby, which consists of building and operating model trains.

1/160 scale (N scale) has a reduction factor of 1 to 160, which means that each centimeter on the model represents 160 centimeters in real life. This results in relatively small models, allowing you to create detailed models in compact spaces.

One of the main advantages of N scale is its ability to represent realistic scenes in a reduced space. Because it is smaller than other scales, it is possible to build complex and detailed railway models even in limited areas.

Church Of The Cross In Pilsum Paper Model In 1/160 Scale
by Papierdenkmal

Created by the talented German designer and model maker Jens Neuhaus, from the website Papierdenkmal and made up of 160 pieces organized on eight sheets of paper, this is the 1/160 scale paper model of the Church of the Cross in Pilsum, Germany.

Although the instructions are written in German, there are very detailed and numbered diagrams that will leave no doubt for anyone interested in assembling this beautiful architectural model.

Regarding this model, Mr. Neuhaus said: - "Among the many historic churches of the East Frisian community of Krummhörn, one stands out in particular: the Evangelical Reformed Church of the Cross in the center of the small town of Pilsum.

The fence 2 km from the North Sea, the late Romanesque building was built in the 13th century on a terp, a settlement hill directly over the water.

The cross-shaped church not only offered protection from storms, but its powerful crossing tower was also a defensive tower and a landmark for maritime navigation.

However, the crowded building ground ensured that the tower leaned already in the Middle Ages and its bells were moved to a separate two-story tower.

After extensive restoration work between 1976 and 1994, the interior of the brick building now contains design elements from various eras: in addition to the bronze baptismal font from 1469 and the wooden pulpit from 1704, the organ built in 1694 by Valentin Ulrich Grotian It is particularly worth seeing and hearing.

The present arch model allows us to recreate the Kreuzkirche, a listed building, in the same state of construction as it has been since its restoration."
